I first want to lift praise to God for providing for me! AND say Thank you to all of you who have been reading these blogs and praying for me and this trip. I have stuck to my word and NOT looked at my support account since the beginning of this month so I have no idea what is in my actual account but I see God providing for me in small ways too.
This week I have been on spring break and took the week to prepare some things for the Race. I wasn’t exactly sure where all the finances were going to come from for the extra stuff (passport, vaccines, equipment, insurance, ect) but I knew God would provide. I knew I had raised enough support from selling Threads of Hope bracelets and I received a bonus at work that I was not expecting that was going to help take care of some of the extra costs of the Race. So, this week I was only expecting to be able to get my passport and possibly my vaccines. I thought I would just shop around for some equipment but wait until my yard sale in April to make any purchases.
My passport was $30 less than what I thought it was going to be and my vaccines were billed to my insurance company which I had NO idea was allowed and so I was able to save about $200 there. In addition, I have been looking at different types and sizes of packs as well as tents and sleeping bags and all other equipment I would need. Last night, God provided again! Packs can cost $200+ for a good one and I wasn’t about to spend that kind of money. However I found a good back I wanted and it was 1/2 off! Not only that but the tent I was looking at was also 1/2 off! Plus there was not tax or shipping cost! So, for under $200 I was able to get my pack, tent, headlamp and footprint for my tent! WITH MONEY LEFT OVER!
God wasn’t done yet though. Today, I called the event I am planning on selling bracelets at to see if I could also paint faces. She said yeah, sure. At this event though I am to do two things, sell bracelets for my trip AND since I’m the sophomore class advisor I was planning on doing a fundraiser for them there. Unfortunately that would mean having two booths, two application fees and I would need someone to help manage one of the booths since I couldn’t do both. When I called the lady who is coordinating all this answered the phone and she said that I could just have one booth! Praise God!
