A quick introduction to myself….. I currently reside in Charlotte, NC but am leaving on May 14 to travel to Chapel Hill where I will finally (!) finish my undergraduate degree in Political Science. From there I will return home to fund raise and work some small jobs until I depart for the world race in January. I cannot even describe how eager I am to embark on this journey and to fully abandon my life of comfort in order to enhance my walk with Christ. My squad will embark on route 3 with the January 2013 team where we travel through 11 countries; China, the Philippines, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatelmala, Albania, Romania, India, Uganda and lastly Kenya.
Some main points……I have a younger brother who is getting married in October ( it is actually on the last day of training camp!) to his college sweetheart both of whom currently live in Maryland. I love animals and aspire to have a horse farm in Texas with a couple dogs and at least 2 goats. Along that line, I dont eat meat. I love a fresh cup of coffee in the morning and a nice cup of tea at night. I love cookies. A lot. When I was about 12 I broke and dislocated my elbow snowboarding and almost lost my arm. Havent done many board sports since then. My family moved frequently while growing up & I attended 3 different middle school and 3 different high schools. I love to sing and dance without doing either particularly well. And I really enjoy music of all types and find it to be a very powerful tool of worship.
There have been many ups and downs in my life, but the low is what propelled me into the arms of God; it is example of how He uses all situations, even rock bottom, in order to fulfill his glory and his plan. My parents are my best friends, both of whom have been inspirations to me in beginning my walk with Christ and my principle source of motivation as I struggled through life. I am very blessed to have such a loving and dedicated family. Now it is all about Him & His kingdom and no longer about me.
