Something I really like about my job: I walked to my desk this morning, took off my shoes and didn’t put them back on my feet until I walked out the door at the end of the day.

I will say though, today was a hard day.  Training Camp for the January Squads is coming up on Sunday, so there was some major preparation that needed to happen today.  I realize that I used several words in that sentence that some of you, my readers, may not be familiar with, so let me take some time to explain.
Important World Race vocabulary to know:

The World RaceA journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community.
SquadA group of 40-65 people that are committing to be community for the next year, travel together, share living conditions and be family together.  Led by 2-3 World Race alumni who take on the roll of “Squad-leader,” they venture out to the unknown together.
Training CampA time about 2 months before they leave the country, when the squad gets together for 8-10 days to camp and rough it and seek the Lord together.
MobilizationThe administerial process of preparing a participant to head out onto the field.  There is one “Mobilizer” who is responsible for a Squad, who is their encouragement, their accountability, their fundraising coach and the one who answers all their questions.
Now that you are familiar with my terminology, I can explain a little more.  Training Camp is this Sunday for the January Squad that I am mobilizing, so it is a little crazy.  Meeting deadlines, fundraising, preparation, packing, questions, lists, last minutes to dos…. I’m going CRAZY!!!
But I love the idea of seeing my squad arriving at Training Camp, with their deadlines met and bags on their backs.  I can’t wait to hug them and meet them in person for the first time, and to know that I helped get them there, each and every one of them.  Every phone call hounding them to turn in their International Health Insurance, every conversation that I got to speak into their lives and every headache I got thinking about their fundraising deadlines… So worth it.
