I figured in honor of my 21st birthday today, I would post a special blog!  I first thought of writing a post entitled “21 reasons why Shawndell is AWESOME!”  But I thought that might be a little much.

So instead, here are my 21 top favorite scriptures…. of the moment.  Ask me in a week, and they will probably change cause my God is constantly bringing me a new word.  I ask you to just soak in these words, chew on them, savor them, let them resonate in your mind and heart as they have done in mine.  As you look at these verses carefully, you may see a little bit of what the Lord is speaking to me right now, or He may use them for a fresh revelation in your own life.  So enjoy!

  1. “The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.”  Isaiah 60:19

  2. “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.” Psalm 32:7

  3. “But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.”  Romans 6:17-18

  4. “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12

  5. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

  6. “Be still and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”  Psalm 46:10

  7. “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”  Philippians 1:6

  8. ” . . . Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.  Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied.  Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.  Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!  Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.”  Luke 6:20b-23

  9. “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”  Psalm 55:22

  10. “Call to me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”  Jeremiah 33:3

  11. “For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.”  1 Corinthians 9:19

  12. “He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.  He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.”  Psalm 18:33-34

  13. “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”  Zephaniah 3:17

  17. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”  2 Corinthians 1:3-4

  18. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised us is faithful.”  Hebrews 10:23

  19. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.  For that person must no suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”  James 1:5-8

  20. “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.  How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!  If I would count them, they are more than the sand.  I awake, and I am still with you.”  Psalm 139:16-18

  21. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”  Romans 8:1

Dear God, thank you for giving me 21 wonderful years on this earth, and for rescuing me from destruction.  I rejoice in your mighty plan for my life and I know that you sing and dance over me, your daughter.  You delight in revealing more and more of your character to me.  Continue to lead me in the way of life, and continue to shape me into the woman of God you have created me to be.  I love you so much Daddy!
