I love music. I tell everyone that
the day of my choice would involve my three sisters and I baking, (or rather
them baking while I sneak bites of cookie dough) while we blast our favorite
music, sing at the top of our lungs and randomly break into crazy dancing
around the kitchen. So this blog is in
honor of different people that I miss back home, and certain songs that remind
me of them!
Justine = “Alone” by Sanctus Real. Whenever I listen to this song Justine, I
think of us rocking out on those late night drives home, dancing around in a
manner that I’m surprised never got us into a car accident. And those lyrics are so true: “… know that
I would fight the tides to be together!”
Savannah = “Airplanes” by B.o.B.
Savannah, you were so stuck on this song the two weeks before I left on
the WR, it was ridiculous! But you
showed such determination to learn those lyrics that I think I even learned the
rap. I love hearing you sing girl. 🙂
Rachel = “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood. It’s a little sad that the song that reminds
me of my 11-year-old sister is this one, but then it’s a little sad that she
knows EVERY WORD! And yet it’s hilarious
to hear you sing it Rachel…. And shows an ever-slow slight improvement in
your taste in music advancing beyond Hannah Montana and the JoBros.
Mom = “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure. Actually, pretty much any 80’s song on my
ipod reminds me of you, mom. But I love
that you always try to sing this song with a slightly British accent and that
you have a pretty stinkin’ awesome shirt about it too.
Daddy = “Happy as the Sun” by Tyrone Wells. I laughed at you so much cause you liked this
sappy song that now it makes me think of you… As well as “London
Calling” by The Clash and anything by Bad Religion. Good times!
Becca = “Boston” by Augustana.
You know this is our song girl!
We are still gonna go to Boston together someday… It will happen I promise!

Jon = “Baby’s A Red” by House of Heroes.
Thank you for introducing me to this band so long ago, cause they are
one of my favorites now! When I hear
this song it makes me think of your tiny closet of an office and you explaining
that this song is about a guy who is in love with a Communist. It still cracks me up.
Ariel and Jeneane = “The Boys of Summer” by The Ataris. This song makes me think of both of you and
driving around on the country roads of Blythe rockin’ out to some awesome
music. We’ve got some awesome memories.
Zak = “The Jerk” by _____. I could
say something about the lyrics fitting your personality…. But I won’t.
😛 It actually makes me think of you
taking every opportunity to show people that you know how to jerk. It would be funnier if you didn’t actually
know how to do it though.
Crystal, Nancy and Carol = “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi
Lauper. I miss my roomies! This song makes me think of midnight “treats”
and couch dancing and: “The leprechauns are coming!!!!”
So yeah, know that music triggers some awesome memories of you guys! Also know that just because I don’t have a song associated with your name doesn’t mean I don’t think of you and miss you! If you have a song that makes you think of
me, please share it! And when you hear
