Oh the joys of the little things.  I’ve been on the field for less than a month and yet the craziest things make me so happy.  For example, I got ice cream last saturday with my team in Jacmel….. It was MARVELOUS!!!!  Vanilla chocolate chip was heaven in a cup after going almost a month without my favorite dairy treat.  Also, today I got Coca-Cola in a cup with ice…. ICE!  Ice doesn’t seem that big until you don’t have any.

I think God enjoys planning the little things as much as we love experiencing them.  Here in Grand-Goave we have had so many happenstance meetings and random people to get to know that I am blown away.  This weekend Christy was struggling with what appeared to be an ear infection, Kayla had a lingering cough and Brittany a cut that seemed to have an infection, and guess who we had as visitors in our tropical paradise?  Two doctors and one medical student, come to Haiti for a specific surgery but who were able to bless us with the medication my teammates needed.  God thing?  I think so.

We also met Kaitlyn, affectionately known as Kako.  She traveled to Haiti by herself to minister here at Mission of Hope for a week, and has now found herself as an adopted member of Team Hinds’ Feet.  Super sweet and an amazing person, she fits in so well we have considered just slipping her into our enormous squad and letting her join us for the rest of the World Race…. Personally, I think its a great idea.
This week have also been blessed by a team from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, among them my sista Sope (pronounced show-pay).  If there was a Nigerian version of me, that would be her.  I swear, we torment each other to no end, making fun of each other’s faces and pelting each other with both rocks and insults all the day long.  Strangely enough we can bond together when the times need it, (i.e. we are both being ganged up upon by the boys) and I’m affectionately known to her and some of the rest of her team as “candle”, refering to my Creole name.  All we need to do is glare at each other over our glasses from across the table and we both bust up laughing.  The rest of the team is pretty cool too: Becca, Emmy, Mike, Steve and Matt.  Matt is questionable though, he enjoys the game “let’s-throw-rocks-at-candle” and practices it many times a day, as well as employing tickling as a cheating method in soccer.  All I have to say to Matt: one leg at a time buddy, one leg at a time!

Other happenstance meetings include Bob, from the band Audio Adrenaline!  The band is teaming up with Pastor Lex to build a NEW orphanage for the kids at Mission of Hope…. So exciting!!!

Can I just say I love how God works?? 😀
