This year has been a year to learn to give up any expectations and rights we think we have.  We have been reminded of this many times and had many chances to practice patience and letting go of what we think should happen.  We were most recently reminded of this on our travel day to Mexico.  We were told an approximate 8 hour bus ride was in store to Palenque.  It ended up being 16 or more hours.  Litterally, from dawn to dusk we rode on curvy roads…changing vans twice along the way.

We are often learning to manage without travel plans until the last minute, constantly changing plans, long travel days, our expectations not being met in ministry, etc.  Things just don´t always turn out to be what you want when you are living on faith and letting the Lord guide your steps.  But that´s ok.  One, it builds character.  Two, it means I´m putting my faith in the Creator of the universe, who doesn´t make mistakes…imagine that.  I have to learn to trust that the Lord is leading my plans (because I am letting Him), and that I am not in control of every factor.  When I can do this, then I am allowing the Spirit more freedom to move in my life.

Are you holding your fist closed too tightly around the plans YOU have made?
