I mentioned in my last blog that we are working with a coffee house ministry through YWAM. It is not what I expected, but better. I thought maybe I would not like it.The coffee house connected to the YWAM in Budapest is still under construction.
Meanwhile, they are open (in a different location) every Friday
evening, and a bunch of people, including English teachers and their
Hungarian students, come to hang out and make new friends.

(the director of the YWAM coffee house) is very serious about good coffee,
so YWAM staff who are helping out must go through a series of training courses to
use the machines. We aren’t here long enough to qualify, so our job is to pick up dishes, chat with people, or pray in another room. I’m having a great time meeting people and building friendships with staff and patrons alike.
During the week, we paint the future coffee house, blessing it with each stroke of the brush.

performances, etc – I wish I could come back to see it when it is finished…

My teammate Laura is constructing
her own coffee house experience. She chose a coffee house in our
neighborhood, and she goes there everyday to build relationships. She has had many good conversations already. I have had the opportunity to go with her a few times and do the same.

Even though it has not been quite
what we expected, we are big fans of coffee house ministry in its
various forms, mostly because it’s something that we (you, too!) could
very easily do at “home.” It is a fun environment where I am enjoying the presence of the Lord in normal conversations about life.
