This month we are in Bangalore, India at an established mission base. This is in the southern part of India. I want to share a few facts about the area we are in so you can know what to pray….
Bangalore (7 million people), is in the Karnataka district. India is 5% Christian…Karnataka is 1% Christian (the most unreached district)…Bangalore is 26% Christian (considered the the “Bible Belt of India”). The Christians in Bangalore have a unique opportunity to reach their district.
The most common religion is Hinduism; there are many Gods in this religion and temples are abundant. One thing about Hinduism is that it welcomes all manifestations of God…so there are many who may welcome the image or person of Jesus but believe in many gods. There is this aim to become God. This is where Kharma comes in. If you live a good life you may have a better “rebirth.” A better rebirth each time until you become God is the goal (nirvana).
This month we are working with college cell groups, children’s programs, medical clinic and kids programs in slums, etc. Here are some pictures to enjoy.
