Because we travel in nothing but style here on the World Race, we had a wonderful adventure while trying to leave Hong Kong and a scavenger hunt throughout the Hong Kong airport in search of our assigned gate.

About our adventure:

1.  Our Airline was apparently unaware the Bangkok airport was closed. Our squad leader, Allison, promptly called the airline that morning to inquire about the status of our flight.  The very nice lady on the phone was not even aware the Bangkok airport had been closed; seeing as how we were supposed to connect through Bangkok it might be good for her to know.

2. When checking in 50 people for said flight approx 3.5 hours before the flight Allison was in line behind a very nice gentleman from the Congo.  He was trying to pay his baggage overage fees in counterfeit USD.  Needless to say we were in line for a VERY, VERY long time.

3. But we were given a $75 Hong Kong Dollar meal voucher (about $11 USD)…that’s a shopping spree of food for a World Racer! We challenged each other to see who could get as close to the exact amount as possible (It had to be spent in one place).

3.  No gate was assigned for our departure.  We were sent to three different gates and each and every gate agent has a different reason for the upheaval.  The best was that the plane had not yet left Bangkok.  Then suddenly five minutes later it shows up in a different terminal.

I am sure I have seen every single part of the Hong Kong airport.  Very funny!
