Hello from training…friendships are beginning to form and God is really moving among us!  We got to meet our coaches Gary and Lisa Black.  They will spend some time each month of the race debriefing the squad and preparing us for the next country, as well as work with each teammate to help us grow in our confidence of God working through us.  These people are amazing!

We got to hear Gary speak on the Holy Spirit, and God really moved among us.  In Acts 2 Peter is speaking to a crowd about Jesus, the son of God, whom they had crucified.  They were convicted in their hearts and asked, “Brothers, what shall we do?”  In verse 38, Peter tells them what must take place, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Over and over in the Bible we are told that God not only wants us to recognize our fallenness/brokenness and accept his gift of salvation, but we are told we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  That’s a big way God wants to speak to us and how he can speak through us, is through his Spirit.  It is God’s presence in our lives.  It is not something that just happened “back then” such as on Pentacost.  God still moves this way today and He wants us to completely lay down who we are or what we want so He can work.

Honestly, if we aren’t willing to completely empty ourselves of all our junk, there will be no room for God to work in our lives.  How can I minister to the dying, the orphaned, or the widowed if I don’t allow space for his Spirit?  What in your life is God asking you to lay down so the Spirit can move in you?
