Freedom.

A word that nobody truly understands in the U.S.
Ironically, I saw this word in a public place in China and wondered if anyone looked twice at it. One thing is true: you cannot understand the word “freedom” until you have been without it. See, in America, we don’t have a clue what it means to lack freedom. Here, we have to change our motives and words. There is no room to say anything you desire, especially in relation to Jesus. Certain words could quickly get a local in trouble, which could translate to being thrown in jail. These restrictions have increased my desire to say radical things about the Savior (don’t worry, we have been careful). Now I understand why the Church is rapidly growing in closed countries. Why is it we only want to exercise our freedom when it’s gone? Maybe it’s the rebel inside of each one of us.
As Lecrae says,
Jesus was a Rebel, Renegade, Outlaw, Sanctified Troublemaker, but He never sinned no. And He lived His life by a different set of rules. The culture didn’t approve so you know they had to bruise Him.
So let’s rebel against the cultures.
Let’s not be conformists to the norm at home but use the freedom given to spread real freedom—FREEDOM IN CHRIST. Let’s be the home of the brave in the name of Jesus.
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.—Galatians 5:13
Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.—1 Peter 2:16
