“Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”—Hebrews 13:5

This has been our first week in Africa and granted not a lot was different than the U.S.—at least the place where we currently are.  I am so grateful for everything we have here.  Honestly, we haven’t had to do without a whole lot in comparison to home.  I do have to say there are little things I will appreciate when I get home. (Again, we aren't really having to do without much.  No complaints at all!!!)  These are things all of those in the U.S. should appreciate.

WIFI
Phones
Constant Power
Consistent Hot Water
Water in General
Any Food We Want
Easy Transportation
Knowing the Time and Day
Flushing Toilet Paper
Ice

These are things that we take for granted back home.   I know many times I have looked in the fridge and said that we had nothing good.  Well, now basic meals are our best friends.  I can’t tell you how excited we are to have hot food recently!!!  Rice has become a new best friend.

I can say with great confidence that if the U.S. had their WIFI, phones, power, water, and transportation all taken away at the same time, they wouldn’t know what to do.  I am in no way perfect in this situation, but I can say that I am so thankful God is allowing me to learn a small sliver of what it means to go without.  We haven’t even reached the part of Africa that truly goes without, so realistically I have no place to say I have gone without.  Not even close.  I have no idea what other lessons God will teach me by taking things away, but if I come home and laugh giddily because we can flush toilet paper, don’t hate.

I am realizing how Satan can use these things to cripple us in our faith.  He distracts us with technology so we don’t build real relationships.  He puts us in this little bubble called comfort, and we are terrified to leave it.  God is showing me how lazy I have been in making war against the enemy, and Satan has done everything in his power to convince me my life is “OK.”

I want more than just OK.  I want radical crazy love for the world through the eyes of Jesus.
Jesus has shown up everyone.  He has shown up big time.  The other night He healed a woman on our squad of intense nerve pain.  There is no second guessing that this was Jesus.

We have high expectations that God will drastically heal the hurting, sick, and lost.
We declare war on Satan and his demons in the name of the Most High God.
We are on The World Race.
