Our first month in Malawi has come to a close and, honestly, I have absolutely no idea where the time went. It feels like maybe a week ago we landed in Lilongwe, Malawi and were blown away by the closeness of the sky, the kindness of the people, and the simplicity of life here.

My team and I have spent this first month teaching music, Bible, and Art on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at a private school in our neighborhood. It’s been hard. Our days are long and we are in no way skilled in the area of teaching, but those children have captured our hearts. Cheers erupt as we enter the school gates each morning, high-fives attack us as we leave each classroom, and our hands become sweaty and clung to every Friday on the way to the field for sports. At least three days of the week, these precious children are hearing about the goodness and the joy of our Father because we get the privilege of coming in to sing fun songs and go through the Bible with them. I pray one day these songs and lessons become a daily reminder for each of them to find everlasting joy in Him.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we go to Chisomo Children’s Club. Chisomo is a Christ-centered organization that rescues children off of the streets. Many children came from abusive or drug-addicted homes. Chisomo gives these children a safe place to sleep, food to eat, medical care, catch- up education, and provides life-skill lessons. They also connect the children with a social worker whom the children are able to confidently share their struggles and work out a plan for the future. Chisomo is incredible and really gives the children hope for a bright future. The staff invests deeply in the children and love very well. We get the opportunity to come in for a few hours twice a week to play games, do a Bible story, and give them the chance to ask questions. It is such a simple thing but we have really seen the curiosity of the kids expand into something really exciting. I pray the children will be confident in the hope that Jesus brings and allow Him to do incredibly big things through them.

A lot of my month has been personal growth. I have had to fight the lie that tells me that I am uninvited. I have spent countless hours in the Word and really dove into Mark and 1 and 2 Peter. God has shown me the deep desires of my heart and began to expose the ways He is going to use those in the future and even during our time here. I love what the Lord reveals when you set aside time to rest in Him. Malawi is absolutely beautiful. Life with Jesus is absolutely beautiful.

Thanks so much to those of you who made it possible for me to be here and for those who pray for me. God is doing big things.
