I LOVE a good story. Whether it’s a movie or a book, I love getting caught up in a good story. I’ve gotten caught up in a lot of good stories lately. Stories that blow my mind. Stories that change my perspective. Stories that remind me about the joy we have. I love stories.

One of my favorite stories, or rather movies, is Taken. It’s got it all. It’s got action, it’s got Liam Niesen, & it’s got love that would go any distance. It blows me away every time I watch it. I know what’s going to happen, but still, my heart beats faster as I see Kim’s (the daughter) friend, Amanda get kidnapped. My heart beats faster as I know Kim is about to get kidnapped too. My heart breaks as I hear a father tell his daughter that’s going to be taken, but that there’s a plan. My heart goes through so my highs and lows as I see a father battle, as I see him go to whatever lengths he needs to take to rescue his daughter. I love that love. I love that story.

It reminds me of the story I’m in…that we’re all in. We are/were in need of rescue, but God had a plan from the beginning. He knew exactly what lengths would need to be taken to rescue us. And He did everything that was needed to rescue us. He. Had. A. Plan. A plan for rescue. It just blows my mind.

But it’s so easy to forget that. It’s easy in the midst of working, doing laundry, grocery shopping, figuring out what the heck is for dinner. We forget that we’re caught up in this awesome search and rescue story. And to some degree, that’s ok. Life is in the every day. We don’t live a movie, we live lives. And lives are full of working, doing laundry, grocery shopping, and figuring out dinner. But it’s important to remember how fiercely we’re loved and how fiercely God has & is pursuing us.

Some of the best stories are stories were good people risked everything, they risked their lives for others. And that’s exactly what Jesus did. But He didn’t just risk His life. He gave it up for us. He laid down His life for us. Does that make your pulse race? Do you think it should?

We are in the midst of this great story. Yes, Jesus has already come. He has already given up His life. But the rest of the story is whether we accept Him. Whether we allow ourselves to be rescued. Whether we allow ourselves to be loved & pursued fiercely by a Savior that didn’t even hold back His life for us. We all desire to love & be loved. Will you let yourself be loved by Jesus? Will you choose into His story?

I promise, it’s worth it.
