One of the biggest blessings that we get on the World Race is our weekly day off. During these days, we can focus on recharging our batteries for the rest of the week. These days look different each week, from staying in on rainy days and watching movies to taking day trips within or outside of our current country and visiting a new place.
One of the greatest days I’ve experienced came last month when we ministering in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria, the ancient capital of the country. Atop the highest mountain in the city was the ruins of an ancient fortress built to defend the city.
So, with nothing on our plate for that day, I ventured out wtih Don and Anthony to storm the castle. We had an amazing day together, laughing, talking, and just enjoying the beautiful sights and each other’s company. Even though Anthony was a little under the weather (and in desperate need of a Western Union) it didn’t stop him from parcoring. Also, he and Don made sure that I didn’t fall off of any tower or trip and break anything. It was truly a wonderful, injury-free castle storming event.
Even though I don’t have pictures from the rest of the day, we ate dinner at an amazing Italian restaurant, and then the guys “took me shopping” afterwards. I insert the quotations because, being as cheap as I am, I didn’t buy anything. However, I deeply appreciate their heart and intention to be willing enough to take me. I’ve been so continually blessed by their selflessness.
We finished up the night with an incredible game of cards, which has become quite an addiction for many of us. Once again, I don’t have pictures of the card game, but with the addition of Marissa, who is a card-playing fiend, many laughs and much controversy were found by all.
So here’s Don, Anthony, and I at the castle in Veliko Tarnovo:

This is probably my favorite picture of Don and me
My guys! We’re trekking up to the very top of the mountain where the castle is.

From a different view. We had to climb a ladder to get there!
We finally made it! And Anthony was doing things to make us laugh.
Well, hello, bell tower. You are looking quite lovely from down here 🙂
We’re super hardcore! It wasn’t always easy (Anthony almost fell off the mountain once) but it was an incredible day I won’t forget! I love you guys!
