Team Sound of Strength is SO happy to be in Swaziland!  After a really difficult month in Mozambique, we could not wait to get to Swaziland aka The Promised Land.  Who would have thought that such a desperate country would be the country that we looked forward to with hope and eager anticipation?  So far it is living up to our affectionate nickname for it!

Our travel day here went very smooth, and was topped off with an amazing siting of giraffes and zebras on the side of the road!  Our driver pulled over for us and we leapt out of our van and ran through the grass to get a closer look at the beautiful animals.  We are staying at an AIM base in Nosoko, Swaziland, serving under a missionary family that left their comfortable life in Michigan to answer the call God had for them in Swaziland.  We are living in literally the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the beautiful landscape, complete with mountains and the most breathtakingly starry sky I have EVER seen.

We are living by ourselves, sleeping in BEDS, and we even have a kitchen to cook in!  I love cooking so this is a wonderful blessing for me.  Our ministry is very relational.  We will be visiting NCP’s (Neighborhood Care Points) where Swazi children come from all over to receive meals.  We will also be doing home visits and attending church services and youth groups put on by the local people.  Discipleship is the focus of this ministry so it will be our goal to aid in the growth of the faith of the believers in the community as well as showing the love of Christ to those who don’t yet have a relationship with Him.

The past couple days have just been settling in, we spent time getting to know our ministry contact Eric, his family, and his staff, we visited a couple NCP’s and also attended a youth group.  After the weekend we will really get to dive into our ministry, so I look forward to sharing with you more about what we are doing and what we are learning in the Kingdom of Swaziland.  I am praying God’s promises over this place that many have given up on.  I believe God has something special for this place, the “Promised Land”.
