When I started out for Africa for the second time in less than I year, I did not know exactly what to expect.  I knew that life on the field would be drastically different from the race.  I would not be living with team Steadfast Pursuit or traveling with my awesome O-squad.  While on the race I tried to spend every waking hour playing soccer wit kids, cooking in the kitchen, lighting charcoal fires to cook tuna burgers, or laughing with my host family.  This time around, I would be spending my time empowering my team for leadership and ministry, processing life or questions with them, and calling out the God I see in them!  Expecting life to be the same as the last time I was on the field would be a huge disservice to myself, to my co-leader, and to my team.  I knew it was time to expect the unexpected and learn the new ways God has to stretch me.

From the moment we left the Adventures Office, I knew I was in well-beyond what I had ever anticipated.  Each day, sometimes each hour, I faced a new challenge or a new problem.  Each moment, I found myself pausing to invite the Holy Spirit into my conversations and my decisions.  During Project Searchlight and Leader Training, God called me to fully release my desire for control and rely on the Lord – walk with Him.  That is what I have been learning.  It’s time to stop forging my own path.  It’s time to walk with Him, wherever He calls me.

God has been blessing me beyond anything I could imagine.  In every conversation, He is there.  In every decision, He is there.  In every crisis, He is there.  He is there.
