What did I learn?

This month, it was borne in upon me the reality of spiritual warfare.  I didn’t have any particularly spectacular revelations this month.  However, God impressed upon me just how difficult change is.  As I worked this month to humble myself before God and men, it just seemed to get more difficult.  I realized that no matter how hard I try, I cannot conquer my flesh in my own strength.  As I give my life wholly over to God, the battle in the spiritual realm gets more and more difficult.  I cannot expect to float through life.  It is a battle each and every day and I want to be prepared to be a soldier for Christ.

Who will I remember?

Alida – A young lady who attends Gospel Center Church.  Over the course of the month we became friends.  We played cards, watched soccer games, watched movies, talked, and just hung out.

Pastor Paul – Paul pastors a church plant in a nearby neighborhood.  He translated for us, played soccer with us, played guitar, taught us Kanya-Rwandan, and made us laugh.  He is awesome!

What is my prayer for Rwanda?

I pray that God will continue to bring restoration and reconciliation to the country in the wake of the genocide.  Next year will be the 20th anniversary of the genocide.  Even 20 years down the road, there are still many wounds.

Rwanda is in an excellent position to become an example to the rest of Africa.  I pray that through the restoration process that God will be glorified and that His power will be demonstrated through the peace in Rwanda.

I pray that Rwandans will be grounded in the truth of God’s Word and trust fully in Him.
