In light of my previous attempts at deep contemplation, it seems apropos to consider an alternative idea – the simplicity of the gospel.
Evidently, I enjoy a spirited debate, especially politically charged late night debates. However, several events, articles, or sermons have combined to remind me of an essential tenet of Christianity. While I serve a complex and wondrous God, He still choses to make Himself accessible to His creatures.
A few weeks before Christmas, some fifty preschoolers straggled into a church auditorium for their annual Christmas Praise Program. For half an hour, I listened to the voices of small children singing praises to a great and glorious God. These young children do not understand the complexity of predestination or eschatology. Regardless, they understand that Christ came into this world and died to save them from their sins. As the 3 year olds at my church learn, “All have sinned” and “Christ died for our sins.”

Despite my questioning and struggling, there is peace in the gospel’s simplicity.
Thank you, Father!
