I am in the back corner of the field, by myself, I have huge blisters on my hands, sweat pouring into my eyes, sunburnt arms and legs and I am having a tug of war with the grass I’m trying to pull out. Then I begin to laugh at my current situation.
So here I am at a kids ministry facility where I do a shift at the childrens home every second day and how much of a streach it has been. Then finding out recently that the next month of ministry in Cambodia is looking like it is going to invole kids ministry as well.
Heres the deal I really am not that comfortable with middle aged kids – I mean I can handle teenages and babies (kinda) but that 7-12 age group just makes me super anxious and kinda awkward.
I’m also just realizing that this is probably going to be an on going trend throughout the race. So when our mentor prayed for me a couple of weeks ago to have favour with kids and I kinda wondered about that prayer in the moment , I see now he was dead on with his prayer. Thanks for that Gary, looks like I’m going to need it 🙂
I guess I just never really thought of this when I signed up for the world race, and honestly I am pretty sure it wouldn’t have changed my decision to go on the world race but oh man God makes me laugh. I have been shown so much love and excitment from the children at the childrens home as they call out “aunty Shannon” and jump into my arms or when they look at my blistered hands and say “its ok.” I have found that I absolutly cannot help but love each of them. This is definatly going to be a year of growth that I am excited for.
So here I am Lord, use me to love your children.

In Cambodia we will be working with a ministry on the out skirts of Phnom Penh reaching out to the kids at the dump, and thats about all we know for now.
