Hello There
So i’m Shannon Mayall, and i have never written a blog entry before so if this is super bad please forgive me.
I am 22yrs old, and the youngest of three kids, I have a brother who is newly married and a sister. My family is definatly
awesome and i’m so greatful for their love and support.
<—- My family, Daddyo(Trevor), Me, Big Bro (Justin), Sister-in-law(Amy), Mommyo (Debbie), Sister (Keryn)I was born in South Africa and my family immigrated to Canada in 1998 which was a huge, huge transition for all of us. I did junior high and high school in Stony Plain Alberta, Canada where my parents still live. I currently live in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada in a house with 3 amazing roommates.I graduated as a licensed practical nurse in 2008 and love being Christ to my patients.
In my spare time i play soccer and jog year round, snowboard in the winter and attempt to longboard in the summer, oh and i crotchet – i find it extremely relaxing. Oh and I just finished reading “When Heaven Invades Earth” by Bill Johnson, which is an incredible read if anyone is wondering.
I also absolutly love to travel and love different cultures, I have travelled to Australia, Singapore, Peru, New York, Los Angeles, and then numerous trips back to South Africa.
Last summer I went as a leader on a missions trip to th LA Dream Center with 15 senior high youth – WOW! what an amazing trip. I loved how simple, practical and effective their form of ministry was to the homeless, the postitutes, the homosexuals, and the youth. I saw our youths lives as well as mine be transformmed in that 2 weeks of serving and loving. We were all so excited about this trip that when we got home we started 4 ministries of our own, going out into our city and serving and man we have seen God do incredible things in our city and our lives. I am still a leader with the senior high youth and have such a passion for them. Its so exciting to be around youth that are so on fire for God. These youth have both challenged me and blessed me and my walk with Christ has grown so much more intimate. Man I love, love God! Also since we got back from LA I commited to 1-2 days a week of serving at our local soup kitchen where i am so blessed with being able to love on people that think the can’t be loved. My other passion is for teenaged girls and the issues that they are faced with, so an amazing friend of mine and i lead a bible study for these girls bi-weekly to talk about what God thinks about these issues, and after each study we have the most amazing prayer session that just blows me away!
I have had my ups and downs in life and in my faith but recently i have completly surrendered my life and my heart to God and its amazing what he has already done in me and I am so so so excitied for what he is doing and for what he is going to do. It kinda makes me wonder what took me so long to surrender.
Well i’m sure there is lots more to know about me but i think ultimatly you should know. I LOVE GOD!!!!! and I’m super stoked to be called to missions
