He’s Not Finished with Him Yet: an Incredible Story

With God nothing is a mistake.

One day Pastor Kupeta was riding in a vehicle with several others, coming from a successful mission of God. Everything happened all in a flash and the vehicle skid across the gravel and flipped and spun three times, glass shattering everywhere, the vehicle damaged but even moreso the people inside. Pastor Kupeta’s head had a severe deep gash that was gushing blood and three of his fingers were slit completely open, revealing the broken bones underneath. He knew that the cut on his head was too severe for him to make it. He started praying his final prayer saying “Father I’m coming home to you, receive me in your kingdom. If I have sinned please forgive me, my Lord. I have done my purpose here, and I am also coming from your mission. Now welcome me home to
You.” Yet God answered him straight away telling him that he still had purpose for him on earth. He wanted him to preach the Gospel of Good news.

Pastor Kupeta made it to the hospital after nine hours of pain and bleeding. He usually wasn’t around hospitals ever and didn’t like going to them. When the doctors saw his head they assumed he would die and were unwilling to treat it and handed him over to higher authority who handed him to a higher authority until it got up to the chief doctor. This doctor was holding a can of beer as he examined the head. He said that there was too much damage and the skull would crack because it was exposed and he would pass away within three days. So he would give him three days and then look at him again to reevaluate.

After the 3 days, the chief doctor came back in to check on Pastor Kupeta. After unwrapping the bandages he looked down and stood amazed. He told the other doctors to look and asked
them what they saw. They replied that they saw flesh growing out of the bone from where the skull was exposed. The chief doctor had known that Pastor Kupeta had been preaching and praying for others. He set down his beer and asserted that only God could do something like this, that he wanted to give up drinking and all his ways to follow the God that Pastor Kupeta followed.

Within those three days, even though he couldn’t even turn his head Pastor Kupeta prayed for those around him in the hospital that were sick. He also prayed for the doctors and nurses and preached the gospel to them and they all gave their lives to Christ. In a particular ward was one man who was hospitalized for having 95 degree burns. When the other hospital staff saw and heard of Pastor Kupeta’s Spiritual authority he prayed with, they asked him to pray for the man with the burns. Pastor was unable to walk but he prayed for strength and asked for a crutch so that by
God’s power he managed to walk for the first time after the accident to the burnt man. He said the man’s skin was a shade he’d never seen before it was so burnt, and he was missing both ears and his nose. It was so bad he knew this man would pass away, but he prayed fervently with the man and prepared him to meet his Father in heaven. That day the man accepted Christ and that is the day he was with his King.

Many of the student nurses Pastor Kupeta met while he was there were going through their final examinations. One young nurse came into his room crying one day because she had failed. He comforted her and told her to pray and God would help her. But she said she believed in her own god who had let her down and let bad things happen to her. But Pastor said he wanted to show her a different God, the God of heaven who loves her deeply and gave everything for her. He made a promise to her that if she didn’t pass the retest exam then he would
pass away within three days, but if she did then he would live.

And of course the young nurse passed her exam with flying colors and came to believe in Christ as well.

As for Pastor Kupeta’s fingers, he went through the same process of having to go through several doctors who all told him they would have to be amputated. Yet he insisted that they could be recovered without amputation as a visual testimony for others for God’s Glory. To this day he has his fingers, although noticeably scarred and crooked, but he uses them to give God the Glory.

Throughout his time in the hospital he was unable to work. But by God’s grace all his debts were cancelled. Instead of being poor after the incident, God continued to provide for him and his family in different amazing ways.

Pastor Kupeta is still amazed with all that God has done for him and he won’t stop sharing his story with others and pointing everything to
God.

Through Pastor Kupeta’s horrific accident that should have cost him his life, God used his time in the hospital to transform the hospital setting by bringing the light of God there. So many peoples’ lives were changed and all glory was given to God.

He proved that no condition will prevent you from preaching God’s Gospel of Good news.

It just shows that God can use anything and everything for His glory and we need to always be ready and willing to give it to Him. Even in the most dark, unexpected situations He is the light.
