A life without Jesus is like living in grayscale- dull, drab, colorless, pale. A life with Jesus is like seeing color for the first time, the vibrant sherbert oranges and reds of a sunset, the cotton candy pinks and purples laced in baby blue of a morning sunrise, a coral reef teeming with brightly colored fish, a painters’ palette- fluorescent, bold, ablaze . Life without chasing after Jesus is like a flavorless meal, bland, tasteless, hard to get down yet you eat it because you have to. A life chasing after Jesus is a burst of flavor, spices and herbs tickling your tongue and igniting your taste buds, sugary sweet, your favorite home cooked meal, the secret recipe, the best thing you have ever tasted, robust and savory. A life without Jesus is darkness, walking around in the dim light bumping into things, trying to get where you are going yet always lost. A life with Jesus is a ray of light, so bright you can’t even see at first, it’s warm and gentle
as it dances across your skin, it’s the galaxy of stars at night, the lantern guiding you home. A life without Jesus is cold, being constantly wet and shivering, the wind pushing against you. A life with Jesus is warmth, it’s sitting by the fire, it’s being wrapped in a soft down blanket as it snows outside, its laying on the warm sand with the sun shining on your skin. Life without Jesus is the hum drum, it’s the honking of horns, busy feet moving somewhere, the tick tock of the clock waiting for the day to be done. Life with Jesus is a sweet symphony, the orchestration of a beautiful melody, the choir of all voices in harmony with one another worshipping the King. Without Jesus is the ever wandering, one step two step, walking in circles down the same paths you’ve always been down. With Jesus it’s an adventure, the adrenaline of conquering your fears, heart pumping, running faster, racing towards the prize ahead. Life without Jesus is falling asleep
barely being able to keep your eyes open, stone faced, body slumped. A life with Jesus is a tickle deep within, a wildfire spreading quickly through your veins, mouth turning upwards revealing a giant grin that cannot be contained, eyes twinkling, open wide.
Jesus is home. No matter where you are at, travelling the world or in your day to day job, all alone or in the great company of friends and family. And yet these are just senses and ways that my little human brain can compare God yet really He is so much more, He is so much bigger and greater than anything we can comprehend. Nothing compares.
