Launch began Tuesday 9/4/12 and ended Saturday 9/8/12. During that time I learned my responsibilities (mostly) as my team’s treasurer, worshiped the Lord with my K-squad family of 58, and was taught many truths about ministering/life in general on the race.
So many good memories, important tips, and time to get to know my team happened during “launch”. There were also many sad moments, like realizing the sacrifice of communication, the sacrifice of regular toilets, the sacrifice of alone time, and the sacrifice of relationships; as saying goodbye to my mom and loved ones (in person) for the last time in 11 months was definitely the hardest thing I’ve done in awhile.
I am so blessed to have begun this journey YESTERDAY, as I am currently in the Hong Kong airport waiting for a 4 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where we will wait for 5 hours to take a taxi to a bus, which will drive us 5 hours to a ferry in order to cross the water. We will finally end up in Penang, Malaysia sometime Monday evening (Monday morning for all you Americans!) where my team along with one other team will collectively work with YWAM in Penang, an island off the west coast of Malaysia, until September 29th. There are many different ministry possibilities within YWAM, so I’ll post more details on that later!
Here I was, ready to be in the sticks with no water anywhere near, but it turns out, I am stoked to go minister on an island, surrounded by people who need to feel the love and hope of Jesus Christ. What a blessing before ministry even starts.
After Malaysia, the team is headed to Australia!!!! Month three will be Vietnam!
I am so blessed to have you all following my blog and journey for the next 11 months. I thank you for your financial and prayer support that has enabled me to get to launch and now to the real RACE! If you have questions or things you want specified or things you want to know about what I’ve written, feel free to comment or email and when I get to WIFI again, I’ll be excited to hear your responses!
