“Now I am going to Him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. When He comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin because men do not believe in Me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.” John 16:1-15
So, from this passage we can deduct that the Spirit:
1)Convicts the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness, and judgment
2)Will guide His disciples into all truth.
3)Will tell you what is yet to come.
4)And bring glory to Jesus by taking what is His and making it known to us.
Man, do you want to know the truth? Do you want to understand life and why things are the way they are? You need the Spirit of truth.
I find it interesting that Jesus is glorified by the Spirit taking what is His and making it known to us. Want genuine knowledge? You need the Counselor. He is God. He convicts the world. He guides, teaches, and makes known to us the truth.
Just as the Father sent the Son, so the Son sends the Spirit. Just as the Son only speaks what He hears from the Father (John 5:19), so the Spirit only speaks what He hears. As the Son seeks the glory of the Father, so the Spirit seeks the glory of the Son.
He is God, the Almighty infinite God of the Universe. And He lives in me. Do we believe it? Do we understand it? I think if we did, there would be no lack of Christian courage, no lack of desire for the truth. We would be fearless and fearfully humble. We would be a people marked by an inhuman transcendence that fills every fiber of our being. We would definitely be different.
Spirit, help us to know You. And help us to grasp the gravity of this truth: Your Presence in us. Amen.
