Dear Friends and Family,
Hi! I hope this letter finds you well. I am thankful for this opportunity to share what’s been going on in my life lately. As you may know, I’m currently finishing my last semester at Liberty University. In December, I’ll graduate with a degree in mathematics. I would like to think I’ve taken advantage of the opportunities I’ve had here. My time here has been filled with lasting friendships, lots of math, a stronger relationship with God, and lots of running “adventures. From the Grindstone 100 mile endurance run to freshman year hall life to great relationships with my professors, I wouldn’t change anything.
As this chapter of my life closes, I’m frequently asked what my plans are for the future. If you asked I would have told you that I plan to pursue a PhD in applied mathematics and spending the rest of my life teaching at a place like Liberty University. Through the last six months God has broken me and unleashed a new passion in my heart. A passion to follow this radical man who was nailed to a tree because flipped society on its head and told people to die to themselves and follow him. His name was Jesus. Here’s what He’s taught me: that the God that created jazz music, that put the universe in order (with math!), that knows the number of every leaf on every tree, that keeps the earth spinning around the sun, that created matter, time and energy itself with only words, that keeps my heart beating and air in my lungs created mankind for a relationship with himself. He created this earth and all of this beauty just to show me how much He loves me. This same God that did all of this has plans for my life (and yours) that we can’t even begin to ponder.
So I’m laying down my plans for a while. I can’t settle for safety knowing that something bigger and greater looms just over the edge of the cliff. I’m excited to tell you that I’ve been accepted into a program through Adventures in Missions (AIM) called the World Race. The World Race is an 11 month mission trip that travels through 11 different countries. These countries are: India, Nepal, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Romania, Ukraine and Ireland. During this trip, I expect to be stretched, broken and sanctified. I will travel and live a team of five other bond servants of Christ as we work with local missionaries and we spread the Kingdom of God. My team launches in January and there is much to be done! Like a typical missionary, I have to raise support to cover this time spent overseas. To be honest, the amount is great, but my God is greater. I refrain from sharing the amount with you because I don’t want you to give under compulsion or feel you could not contribute anything significant. If your faithful prayers during this time are what you can commit to, GREAT! I’ve learned about the power of prayer through my awe-inspiring parents and family. And I’ll be needing lots them! If you feel that God is calling you to give financially to this ministry, also great! I’ve enclosed a form that tells you about the ways you can help. Thank you for the influence you’ve had on my life. I would not be the man I’ve become without it and thanks for your support!
a bond servant of Christ,
Scott Taylor
