The red letters. Read them.

I was riding along listening to Glenn the other day. He said that he suggests to people to read the red letters. You know what he means. The red letters. The Bibles that highlight the words of Jesus. If we believed Jesus meant what Jesus spoke, our lives would look like Paul’s life.

Glenn suggests that we study Jesus’ words. Yeah, he believes the whole bible is God’s word, BUT we often avoid what Jesus spoke. We read everything but Jesus. We don’t understand Jesus. Go. A riddle of Jesus. Baptize. Another riddle. Disciple. Jesus, I don’t get it, what do you mean? The Nations. I guess I just won’t be able to understand Jesus.

For so long I thought I was a part of the body. I was the butt. Sitting. My spiritual gift was sitting in a pew and making excuses. I didn’t read Jesus words, because they were too hard to explain. I don’t have a theology degree, how am I supposed to understand what Jesus meant by the great commission?

Now that I am following Jesus, the red letters come alive.

Read the red letters. Two thousand years ago illiterate fishermen understood Jesus’ words. They are not riddles. Read the red letters, and live.
