We travelled all weekend. We left Antigua at 8am on Saturday and arrived here at Casa Mateo in Jinotepe, Nicaragua last night (Sun.) at 8pm. We were in four countries this weekend, after leaving Guatemala, we slept in San Salvador, El Salvador and on Sunday we drove through Honduras and are not in Jinotepe. Jinotepe is 46 Km southeast of Managua. Granada is 41 Km Northeast of us. We will be staying here for a week, then heading to Diriamba, a little ways north for a month of ministry.
Lynn and Glenn Schweitzer are the missionaries we will be working with. Team Nessa will be joined by Tim, Chris, Meagen and Anne, to help the Schweitzers with a dump ministry. Because of war, most of the people in Nicaragua are under 30 years old. There are almost 7 women for every man. (sounds mormon, but you know what I mean). There are almost no men, and most of the men are alcoholics.
We will be camping near the dump and our ‘job’ is too spread love to the children and people who actually live in this trash heap. These people eat out of the dump. The Schweitzer’s have an incredible vision down here and own a hotel where they would love to host missionaries for more work. Their prayer is that of Jesus, that workers will be sent, because though many are called, many are disobedient. Pray for this ministry.
