The past few days at the Virginia Theological Seminary(vts.edu), where my team and I had some initial meetings, and time together before we head off to Kenya. Have been a much needed time of reconnection, not only reconnecting with my team members and overall squad, but in many ways with the presence of God. So much of what happened these past few days, I have a feeling that it will be something that I will not know how much of an impact it has had on me, until maybe weeks or even months along in the World Race.

Arriving to the Virginia Theological Seminary was an interesting way to start off this trip to say the least. After meeting most of the other squad members, we all piled into a city bus(with all of our 45lb+ packs and our full day packs strapped to the front mind you), after which we hopped on the Metro Rail(did I mention this was 5pm rush hour?) in order to catch another bus to finally make it to the launch site. If anything it seemed to be entertaining to those traveling home from work on the Metro Rail.

I am now about to begin a 48 travel day where we will finally make it to Saiya, Kenya. We are taking a flight from Washington D.C. To Doha, Qatar 14hrs 21mins, and then board a plane to Nairobi 4hrs 18mins. After which our team will be staying the night at a hostel in Nairobi, and then have at least an 8 hour bus trip to our home for the month Saiya!
