The question that comes with being a senior in college is almost always, “so what do you plan on doing after school?” For me the answer has always been very abstract. I often stop to think and then say something about how, “I would like to eventually work in the film or television industry, focusing on screen writing or producing. I also hope to work on documentary films or films that revolve around the idea of the everyday person's story.” Yet I have always struggled with what that really means. I don't see myself moving to Hollywood, but that is where the majority of the work is. I have very little experience with actually working with a video camera, and don't have the resources to buy one or the software/hardware to edit at the moment.

Is it all just a pipe dream? The result of growing up in an environment where I was told from a young age, “you can be anything you want to be.”? One of the mottos that Belmont has is “From here to anywhere.” Ok that's great, but here put me in the hole for about $60 grand plus interest. So where does that leave me? Where is anywhere and how do I get there?

Though I will soon be finishing up my time at Belmont, it turns out that the journey has just begun. I have always had the desire to be able to meet people where they are, see what God is up to in other parts of the world, to experience a time in another context, and see how people from all different walks of life live out their stories. Turns out God knows what He is doing and now my story is beginning to come full circle. For the next year after I finish school I will be able to experience many of these ideas, and have the chance to meet people where they are.

As I prepare for The World Race, a journey that will last eleven months take me to eleven different countries and span three continents. I imagine all the different stories that are going to take part in this journey. Stories of all the twenty-somethings that I will be able to share this experience with. People from all across this country that are coming together from various backgrounds, and even in some ways coming in with various purposes.

In the end God is guiding this journey, and writing this story. So while I honestly do not know what all to expect from these eleven months. I have faith that this story will end up greater than anything I could or would ever write alone.
