We’re finally in New Zealand – we are excited and extremely exhausted! We left California on the third, had a layover in Sydney, Australia, and finally arrived on the fifth in beautiful NZ! So as we flew here, the fourth of January came and went in a matter of 3 hours… how weird is that? Oh the joys of time travel 😉 Okay, not really, but you know what I mean.

Let me start off by telling you how cool it was to see our World Race family at the LAX airport getting ready for takeoff. Oh-my-gosh! It was so exciting to see their beaming faces as they carried their ginormous (gigantic/enormous) backpacks! Love it! We know that people back home will never quite understand our excitement for this mission, but other racers do, and that’s SO awesome and comforting. We didn’t get a chance to see a couple of our teammates until our arrival in NZ because they flew out earlier, but when we did, AHH… there’s no words to describe the giddy excitement we felt! Have we mentioned that we LOVE our team? Well we do… even our buddy Darrell who was unable to make it for personal reasons. Darrell, you’ll always be part of “Ignitus”. This journey won’t be the same without you. We miss you and we will be sure to make you proud! We love you friend!

Scott and I were the last to arrive in NZ, but when we finally got to our base camp we were welcomed with the most incredible outpour of love! There were people there that we hadn’t even really met that were hugging us and telling us how much they’d been praying for our situation with immigration and our finances, for us to be able to make it. That day we found out that there were SO many people praying for us all along… we were so touched! Through this experience, I have understood the power of prayer, because we’re here against all odds, aren’t we? There was so much affirmation that this is exactly where God wanted us all along, with these people, at this time, in these nations. This is it! I can tell you that there’s nothing more freeing than to know God’s call on your life, to answer, and to see the fruit of that. It’s life-giving.

*More pictures coming soon!!

Our tents are all set up and we’re ready for 5 days of reunion, training, and then to finally part ways and find out our mission… oh man… God is SO good. We can’t wait to see what these next 11 months have to offer, but I can already tell it’s going to be good.
