We started out the month in Kathmandu with two other teams. We were then sent out to different villages where my team was basically sent back to South India. We were right on the border in the village ofSarlahi, in the state of Haripur. We are working with a pastor here spreading the news of Jesus to unreached people.
One task this month is building a fence for the church here. We have gone into the jungle that is our backyard and cut down bamboo trees. Cleaned them up, split them in half and half again and then wired them together to make a fancy fence around pastor’s church. On days we aren’t building the fence we are walking to surrounding villages and handing out tracks (a pamphlet about Jesus) We are praying for people and having house visits with existing believers.. Encouraging them to spread the news of Jesus in a Hindu dominate world. The Hindu festivals surround us every night with fireworks, scary screaming music and the worship of blank faced plastic idols. The days are long as we walk to four to six hours reaching villages far from ours. No one speaks English, we have one translator and all the small children cry and are afraid of the white people going through the village. However the long days are worth it for the endless biscuits and Chai tea alone but more importantly for the prayer and encouragement given to the one family of believers. They light up, invite us into their home offering whatever snacks they can find and ask us for worship, prayer and an uplifting word.
