Well here we are two weeks into the race. We have made a lot of progress here at Dobro Mirka. Week one the girls cleaned the entire kitchen from top to bottom, removing all tarps and dust and got it into working order. We have been cooking up a storm here. One of the many blessings we have been given this month is food. Although we are on a tight budget of around $50 per week for all of us, the Lord has continued to show up in the kitchen. The food just keeps multiplying somehow, and we have not gone a single day hungry. The main staples that we have at every meal here are bread, salad (which consist of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, salt, and oil) and watermelon. We probably go through a watermelon a day here, these people love it and hardly spit out the seeds because it’s a waste of time between them and the next piece!. Our contacts have been so generous letting their food be our food and she has even made me numerous veggie options, praise god! The second week we have sanded, primed and painted the iron fence around the house, while the men have been hard at work doing manual labor all day.
We will be here at Dobro Mirka for about another week and a half then we are headed to the Bulgarian mountains. There we will be camping out and helping with a kids camp for a few days. Next we will head to the Black Sea for a day or two of fun in the sun and then it will be time to head to month two of the race. I can't believe these two weeks have already gone by so fast.
Here is a video we put together of our home here at Dobro Mirka. We learned a few Bulgarian words such as Slava Na Boga which means Praise the Lord, as well as a song to sing at church on Sundays before we preach. The clip at the end is a typical family dinner here, full of amazing food, family and singing as loud and deep as we can! Enjoy!
