How do you take one of the greatest months of your life and sum it all up in one little, interesting, captivating, explanatory, exciting blog? I don't really know that it is possible, but I am going to take a whack at it right here, right now.
China…
What did I expect when I arrived in China?
Chop sticks, fried rice, noodles, no way to communicate, cute babies, and a little bit of secrecy as to why we were there. Outside of these things I didn't have many expectations, because I just didn't know.
What happened while I was in China?
Freedom, dinner parties, laughter, prayer, English corners, telling cute kids why we celebrate Christmas(JESUS!!), Phase 10, roller skating, more dinner parties, open mic night, good coffee, really cold weather, Halloween parties, more prayer, loving on prostitutes, watching children in their classrooms, ridiculously awesome friendships, ultimate Frisbee, trying my best to speak in Chinese(Once I told them I was ignorant without even knowing), answering a lot of questions, trying to encourage any and all missionaries that we came across, more prayer, hot pot dinners and karaoke, house church, intense team times, attacks from the enemy, worshiping in the rubble of what was once a place of prostitution, more dinner parties, more really awesome friends, prayer walks through Buddhist monasteries, being shown proof that single woman can go to the mission field, potential job offers, more friends, more prayer…..life.
Life happened while we were in China, and it was incredible!
Going into China I didn't really think that I would love it all that much; now that I have left China I keep making up excuses in my mind to go back there. I don't know that I will ever be allowed the chance to go back to China, but a little piece of my heart will always remain there.
Please excuse the vagueness of all of the wonderfulness that happened in China. I really want to do my part in protecting the people that have given up so much to be there. If you want to know more, I will be home in a few weeks…we can talk all about it then!
But until then, enjoy some pictures!!
