Have you ever considered, I mean really thought about, what it means to need something more than the air that you breath?
People say all of the time that they need this or that more than a lot of things, and some people go as far as to say that they need trivial, physical things more than the air that they breathe.
Physically speaking there is not much in this world that you need more than the air that you breath. If you are really, really thirsty you may need to skip a breath or two in order to guzzle down some agua, but other than that there is nothing. There is nothing in this world that you need more than the air that you breathe.
And then there is Jesus.
Jesus is the one thing that every human being: past, present, and future need more than the air that they breathe. He’s the one that we can’t live without; without Him we are all just walking, talking corpses. (The wages of sin is death and Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life…enough said.)
The problem with this truth is that people don’t recognize it as a truth. They think, “Oh that is that hocus pocus freaky stuff for those super spiritual types.” But they are missing out on something that is so much greater than themselves.
That being said, there are also a lot of people who know that they need Jesus to avoid an eternity in Hell, but they haven’t yet recognized what it means to need Him more than the air that they are breathing at this very second. Truthfully, I have walked through most of my Christian life as one of these people, but no more. I won’t stand for it. That is simply not an acceptable mindset to have.
Now this concept has not made it’s way to the deepest parts of my soul at this point in time, but He is taking it there. He is forming a dependence on Him within my soul that is undeniable. My desire for the relationship that I am walking out with Jesus is that I would feel more choked apart from Him than I would feel apart from the air that I breathe. He is the one thing that I need more than the air that I breathe, and I am ready to start living like it.
