We have officially been in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for a week now and things are pretty awesome! If you are wondering how to say that crazy “T” word, just sound it out….that’s right, Tegucigalpa!
Tegucigalpa is the capital city of Honduras, and it is incredible! We went to a park that has a giant Jesus statue that over looks the city; while looking at the city from that vantage point I so clearly see a city that will one day be freed from injustice to become a city that will reach others for Jesus.
This place is beautiful!
Our squad is staying at Zion’s Gate; this is a ministry that truly takes my breath away! Tony, the big man on campus, and his wife, Nidia have taken in several boys from the streets. They have provided them all with a stable home, an education, three meals a day, and so much love that they just don’t know what to do with it all. They are currently in the process of building a dormitory to house girls. There are a handful of girls that they want to provide for, they simply don’t have the space in their home.
This past week my team, team zeroH, had the privilege to spend some time working on the land around the girl’s dormitory. We spent our days loading wheel barrels full of rocks, dirt, and trash to haul away. We used all of the rocks to continue the rock wall around the property. Can I just say that this was a tough task, but I am so excited to know that one day very soon there will be girls living in that house; and with that they will be growing closer to the Lord with every new day.
Tomorrow we will be spending some time doing prison ministry/going into a neighborhood for an event totally organized by gang members. It's going to be nuts, and I can't wait to tell you all about it!!
PS-Yes, I know that my title has absolutely nothing to do with my blog.
