Those of you who know me well are most likely thinking, "Savannah! Is there something you have not told us? You don't drink, why do you belong in AA?"
Not Alcoholics Anonymous.
I belong in the Ashamed American Club – or AA for short, whichever you prefer.
I think all Christian Americans at some point have joined this club, we've all been here.
In Romans 1 Paul writes, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
What unashamed love and boldness for the Creator of the Universe!
I have been reading Paul's letters a lot over the last few months. I am blown away by his stand for the gospel and spreading it everywhere despite the persecution and hardships he faced.
While studying his letters, I became disgusted with myself. Disgusted because I, Savannah Howard have been ashamed of the gospel. Ashamed of having the ability to speak life and truth.
Want to know why?
Because I feared what people would think. DUMB reason. You see, we hold the keys to Kingdom living. We have the ability to proclaim Jesus unashamedly and without reservation, yet too often we shrink back and think, "If I tell them the gospel they'll think I am crazy and I'll loose a friend."
And that's our excuse….
Friends,
I don't know about you, but I would much rather share the gospel and loose a friend then to not share the gospel out of fear and not see those people in Heaven.
It is time to stop being afraid and start proclaiming truth.
Not sharing the gospel with everyone you come in contact with is only hindering, not helping.
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." 2 Timothy 1:7-10
Not sharing the truth of the gospel is like keeping the deepest secret from the love of your life.
Share LIFE– The WORLD is waiting.
