So as of today, we've eaten about the same type of meals everyday while in Dondo, Mozambique. Meals range from rice & beans, rice & spinach surprise, shema (corn meal) & beans, shema & spinach surprise, rice & fish (with bones in them), or my favorite rice & minnows… with bones. I never thought I'd be eating what we bait for fish in the U.S. The most delicious foods I have enjoyed the most so far have been the local fruit!! You can get it almost anywhere on the side of the road for extremely cheap, or even in the mango & avocado grove at our ministry site. We wake up most days & pick up mangoes off the ground for our breakfast of fruit & bread.

Today Desirae & I walked to the market to find bug repellent, shampoo, snacks, etc… & on the way, we decided to stop for some bananas. We walked over to a lady who told us that one bushel was 20 metcals… or about .60 cents. WAHOO. We jumped on that immediately & grabbed two bushels, one for each of us. As we were grabbing them though… some ginormous bird came & pooped all over us ha ha. I'm not exaggerating… I had it all over my clothes, shoes, arms… you get the picture. So we just kinda shrugged it off, said TIA (This is Africa), & proceeded to pay for the bananas. She started to put them in one bag & said, "20 metcal!" Confused, I said, "For both??" "She shook her head and motioned upwards & smiled. I said, "Ha ha because the birds pooped on us??" And she shook her head in response. FAVOR! Thank you Jesus… we got 10 bananas this morning for only .60 cents.

So because the foods we eat are extremely bland.. peanut butter & jelly has become manna from Heaven. Over the weekend our team had to prepare meals for ourselves, for the ministry site did not cook on Saturdays & Sundays. We enjoyed peanut butter & jelly on baked bread loaves, eggs & veggies, & chicken, veggies, & rice. So good!!!

Also…. when we were at the market today, we discovered that Mozambique has one of the most amazing foods in the world… NUTELLA. HA! My favorite thing. My roomies back home will understand this one (Love you Sara and MJ!). So of course Des & I grabbed a bottle, & we enjoyed it this morning for breakfast with our bananas. Chocolate is a rare occasion here & we indulge in it when we find it!

If you have any questions about any other Mozambique food, don't hesitate to comment. I'll write back the second I have internet! Love you guys. God bless you.
