This is not a cliche “everything we do needs to be for his glory” blog. This is more of a “blow up your mind with the enormous magnitude of a concept” type of blog.
I was riding in a van to “who knows where” village the other day with a bunch of other Racers and a host. I was kind of mindlessly staring out the window and a thought process formed. Here’s how my mind operates…
“Why do we have an economy? Why do we make money and buy things? Why do we eat? Why do we travel? Why do we even care who is president, or who the next Top Model will be? Why do we even say “see you tomorrow”? Why do we play sports? Why does the United States have one way to do government, and China have something completely different, and Great Britain have yet another way of doing things? We do we even ride in vehicles?
Truth is it all comes back to one simply complicated question: Why do we do or say or think the way we do? We don’t HAVE to, we just do.
While there might be some logic to it all, there might not actually be that much logic at all. We have the need to eat, but we don’t HAVE to eat a certain way. We just do. We could have picked to run everywhere, but somewhere along the line, humans got lazy and thought to put a board between some wheels on a stick. We just do things the way we do them, because we do.
If you really think about it, we exist to exist, no matter how we do life.”
My conclusion to all this was actually fairly simple: our reason to do, say, think, feel, work, eat, sleep, anything, is God.
Ecclesiastes 6:10-12
Whatever has come to be has already been named, and it is known what man is, and that he is not able to dispute with one stronger than he. The more words, the more vanity, and what is the advantage to man? For who knows what is good for man while he lives the few days of his vain life, which he passes like a shadow? For who can tell man what will be after him under the sun?
Ecclesiastes 12:13
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
