Today I came across an article on Facebook titled “20 six-word stories that are absolutely heart-breaking”. When reading through the sentences, I began to realize the connecting significance of each one.
One bullet is a lifetime supply.
An only son, a folded flag.
Jumped. Then I changed my mind.
He hit send, then a tree.
Ever seen chalk outlines that small?
Dad left; a flag came back.
It’s our fiftieth, table for one.
Strangers. Friends. Best friends. Lovers. Strangers.
Each one of these stories tells a heart-breaking tale. Each story is different, but they all tell of the loss of a loved one. A son, a father, a husband or wife, a child, a friend, or your own being.
Some of you reading this may have already experienced one of these stories, but they don’t have to define your life. If you could write your own six-word story, what would it be?
For me, there are many things I would want my story to say. I would like it to speak hope and life, love and caring, maybe even some humor and power. However, I’m not sure it currently does read this way.
At this moment of my life, I think my story is:
Little devotion is better than none.
This is my anthem right now, because I am only able to get a small amount of time with Father. What little time I get, I need to actually choose to spend that time intentionally building our relationship. Our work is kind of sporadic and changes every day, so sleep and meals are always changing and we are at many different locations. I’m always needing to be intentional with my team and my Father.
Be intentional. May your story reflect Father in what you do and say!
