Do you think Ped-Egg would send a shipment to Africa?

I’ve determined that my feet will not be appropriately clean until I get home. There is just something about walking around in sandals on dirt roads that does a number on them.

During our last church service in Mozambique, my group decided we were going to wash the feet of the staff and boys of Beacon of Hope.

Like Christ washing His disciples’ feet (John 13: 1-17), it is a beautiful picture of being a servant. Humbling yourself to serve someone, even if the task is not completely appealing. (Example: washing dirty feet)

As I was observing, I felt God say to me, “Wash the world’s feet.

What does this even mean?

Sarah, this is how you wash the world’s feet.”

And so…this month in Swazi, I have been trying to discover what that really does mean.

BE A SERVANT. LOVE PEOPLE ENOUGH TO SERVE THEM.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO GET DIRTY WHILE DOING IT. GET UNCOMFORTABLE.

HUMBLE YOURSELF. HELP CLEAN THE DIRTIEST, UNLIKABLE PARTS OF PEOPLE.

Literally wash that person’s feet, even if it is gross, dirty, smelly…

Talk to that teammate, even if you feel they are unlovable right now…

Serve this organization, even if you don’t necessarily like ministry this month…

Share what Christ has done for you, even if it makes you completely nervous…

Pray for others, even if you are “not feeling it”…

Be patient, loving and kind with people, even if you don’t understand their culture.

That is how you wash the world’s feet.

Basically, it is what I’m trying to learn to do. Not only for the Race, but for the rest of my life.

How can I serve others today? How can I love them? What part Christ can I give them?

Metaphorically speaking, how can I wash someone’s feet today?

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messanger greater than the one that sent him.” John 13:14-16
