Am I really doing this thing? Is this some weird church camp or something?
It is LAUNCH week! The first week on the Race, we spend getting some more training and preparing ourselves spiritually to actually do this thing. About 120 racers are staying in small Romanian Baptist church in Hollywood, FL. We are sleeping on the pews and floor and the guys are camped in the parking lot. With our indoor plumbing and air conditioning, this is what we will learn to call “luxury accomodations.” For real, I am truly grateful!
Very early tomorrow morning, we will begin our journey (literally- a nice long walk to take a bus to take a train to the airport!) to the Domincan Republic. We will be staying in the San Juan region working with an organization called Dominican Rising.
Launch has been a great transition week, but I’m so very ready to GET MOVING!
It is still so surreal that I am actually here, but I have been constantly reminded and HUMBLED as to how blessed I am to be doing THIS! Adios Estados Unidos 🙂
