It is difficult to grasp that our time in Guatemala is rapidly coming to a close. On Tuesday we venture to Nicaragua for a month of ministry. We will leave a vast majority of our squad behind and we will partner with only one team. While I have the opportunity, I’d like to tell you about the ministry we just completed here in Guatemala. This month, team Daughters of the Vineyard was placed in a daycare. We each had our own classroom, and I was placed with 30 adorable 4 year-olds. Each day looked similar: We worked on shapes, numbers, vowels, etc. Pretty much immediately, I was smitten. The children were adorable. Secondarily, I came to really appreciate and love the teacher I was paired with (I was basically a teacher’s assistant this month).

All month long, God has been giving us opportunity after opportunity to redefine our perception of ministry. We have had to be intentional about asking God exactly who he would have for us to speak with or pray with or pray over so that much would be made of Jesus. It has been challenging in this way, and it has stretched us.

The day we left, we brought all of our teachers flowers and chocolates (‘cause, you know, we’re girls and we like that stuff) and they were so sweet (they showered us with gifts and lunch). It was a really great and really sad day.

I am hopeful about our ministry in Nicaragua, but I will sorely miss the people here, specifically the faces and voices and laughter of 30 adolescents.

Now, have some pictures.
