Now, I've read enough of other Racers's blogs to know that we shouldn't get up our expectations because it can hinder our actual experience sometimes. But….it's rather hard not to have expectations so I'm putting them down anyway.
The Things I Expect…
– That being a tomboy will come in handy for once! (Dirt don’t bother me!)
– For God to use this trip to work on me in ways that will be extremely uncomfortable for me
– To fall in love: with Christ more and more each day, but also with each and every orphan I meet
– To have good stories to tell my children some day (You know, the ones where you tell them about walking uphill both ways to school)
– To be tired, dirty, hot, uncomfortable, homesick, frustrated….you name it
-To experience every emotion God ever invented at some point during the year
– To come home different than I left
– To learn at least a few words in each different language (I will do my best!)
– To cry every single time we leave a country
– To come back and start teaching and having my kids think I am a crazy person because I have no idea what new songs, movies, electronics, etc are out there anymore…ya that’s gonna be a good feeling.
– To be completely terrified at some point
-To eat food I have never imagined or ever wanted to try
-To have my faith challenged in new ways each and every day
– To see God work in ways I never thought possible
– To become a skilled photographer by the end!
– To witness the beauty in all of God’s creation
-To find joy in the most simple things
-To freak out if I ever see a snake! I might panic.
-To completely let go of expectations and allow God to just surprise me.
– To understand how less is more
– To fully rely on God to supply all my needs
-To simply expect the unexpected
