There have been MANY times this year that I could have used the phrase "never on the world race did I think I would…". But, more than ever I think I can say that never on the world race did I think I would be teaching spinning (indoor cycling) classes!!

If you don't know this about me already, I love cycling and running and thought I would have to give up working out while on the Race. That hasn't been the case at all! Some months,  I've been blessed to have places to run, gyms to work out in or just enough space to get in a good P90X workout :).

This month, my team has been very fitness minded and motivated… After all, it is one piece and parka season as we head to South Africa. Gotta look good!

Two days ago, after my run I met up with a friend who was finishing up her workout at the gym. I quickly noticed a poster for spinning classes and decided to ask when they held classes. They said they currently did not have an instructor so they were not offering classes. Bummer. Then, the receptionist asked "do you teach classes?" It caught me off guard for a moment. "Well," I said, "I love spinning and have taken many classes in college… So yea.. I could teach!" She called her manager over and after talking with him for a few minutes about music and time of classes, he agreed to let me teach classes for the next two weeks! "See you tomorrow!" he said as  I wrote down my name and number on a piece of paper and out the door I went. Didn't he want documentation or certification or more information before just agreeing to let me teach?? Ohhh well. I was in! Yes!!

I spent the evening googling the "top 25" spinning songs and made a playlist. I refreshed my memory with different cycling positions and just how to teach a spinning class!

Last night, I showed up nice and early to test out my music with two of my teammates who agreed to take the class with me. Music worked great. Spinning studio was legit (picture coming soon!!). The only slight disappointment was that my two teammates were the only ones in my class! Haha. But that's okay since it was my first class. It went great though. Good workout, manager approved and asked me to come back and teach the next day! Tonight, I will be teaching my second class and couldn't be more excited!!

So, I know this blog wasn't super deep and spiritual, but I write it to tell you this. Being a "missionary" doesn't mean you have to abandon all the things from home that you're passionate about. It doesn't mean you have to let yourself go physically and eat icky food or stop working out. And it doesn't mean that your "ministry" is within the walls of the children's home or school or church that you are at. Ministry opportunities are everywhere and this month God has blessed me with gym ministry! Please be praying that God would be glorified through these spinning classes and that He would use me to build relationships with people at the gym!
