Through working at the coffee shop, we were able to make several connections with local people and made several great friendships. It has been so interesting to get a glimpse into life here in Vietnam and experience the culture through our new friends.
One of these sweet friends we met in the conversation rooms. She has recently been searching for more that she knows, and has been finding answers in the right places. However, she has difficulties speaking of this to her loved ones, so we have been praying for the courage for her to do this and encouraging her in taking the next step.

Among some of the many things we love about her, she is super sassy, and loves adventure. From exploring new places, to trying weird foods, she is always ready to try something new and different, and always has a snarky comeback to our comments. When we met her at first in the English practice rooms, she was very quiet and only listened, but as time went on, she became one of the sassiest people I know. Always ready with a funny comeback.
One such adventure we went on with her, was trying balut and raw oysters (google balut… just do it). Although not the worst thing I’ve had, it was definitely not the best, but it was so fun to laugh with her and learn more about typical Vietnamese food and culture. She is also one of the most generous people, and treated us to several delicious Asian meals.

Pray for this dear friend as she experiences comments from loved ones about her choices, and grows in her new beliefs. Pray that she would be surrounded by good community, and finds encouragement in likeminded people. I am so thankful for this friendship and the opportunity to get to know her over the past month. Pray for all the people like her, that are stepping out into something new, and need the courage to continue in something that is very discouraged in Vietn@m.
