Although it was difficult to be away from family and friends this Christmas, it was such an honor to spend Christmas with the kids of El Shaddai. The kids were budding with joy and excitement! We baked Christmas cookies, put on a Christmas play, and even learned Feliz Navidad.

Swaziland has been one of my favorite months on the race. I spent my days coloring, teaching, laughing, dancing, and just being a kid. Being with the kids every day was the perfect cure for being homesick. God taught me more about His unconditional love for His children.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m really making a difference, especially when there is no physical evidence of my work. One afternoon I was talking to one of the girls, Wendy, and she told me that she hadn’t believed that anyone could love her until one of the Racers taught her that she was worth being loved. After talking to Wendy the realization hit me hard. LOVE. It was that simple. That’s what I came to do – to share God’s infinite love!

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13
