The last two weeks I have been a whirlwind of nonstop fund raising, shopping for equipment, visiting doctors and spending time with my family and friends.
My preparation for the race has also led me to meet two amazing people. They are my parent’s new neighbors. Pete was a missionary for seven years and was incredibly helpful with all kinds of information. We talked about fund raising, the logistics of communication and handling the emotions and impact of some of the good and not so good encounters we will experience on the trip. He really helped me to find a peace about some of the “stuff” we will see. Martha was so encouraging and powerful with her positive attitude and expressions of faith. They were put in my path at the perfect time. We slowed down to just talk and put the details in perspective. I pray that all of you have met a Pete and Martha along the way as we approach the most life changing journey we can imagine.
