Hi! Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit about me!
I am from Kennesaw, Georgia and will be graduating from Kennesaw State University (Go Owls!) in December 2015 with a degree in Communication and a minor in Religious Studies.
Recently, I have been working as a Youth Coordinator at a local church. This means, I get paid to have FUN and talk about how great God is. (How cool is that?!)
At KSU, I was a Resident Assistant (again, my job was to have fun – can you tell I am not a big fan of “desk jobs”?), played intramural volleyball, and I have joined in worship with a campus ministry.
I have had an interest in travel since I was a kid, but it was never considered as a real option. “Traveling is for rich, retired people …right? Plus, what skills do I have? I am not a doctor or a builder. I don’t know any other languages. God didn’t equip me to be called overseas,” I thought.
I have met a few people over the years who had completed the World Race and with every conversation, I was ignited with a burning desire to GO! God was preparing my heart before I knew His plan.
If I learned anything from my relationship with my Heavenly Father, it is that:
“God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called.”
Now that college is wrapping up and I’m an older kid (22 years young), I applied to join the World Race. “Well, if it’s where God wants me, it will work out.”
The Lord opened the door for me to use my interest in travel as a way to better serve Him. This was also at the PERFECT time (would you expect any less from God?!) for me as I was letting go of something that was keeping me from Him – He gave me something to run toward!
Now, I am preparing to serve my God and His people in whatever capacity He needs at that moment. I couldn’t be more equally terrified and UTTERLY EXCITED for what is before me! I can’t predict any of it (and that’s when my need for “control” creeps out), but that’s where my trust in my Father needs to be bigger than my fear of the unknown.
I am honored to have received a calling to serve my God in 11 countries over the course of 11 months, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you! All prayers and support are greatly appreciated! 🙂
